# Streak and sample data

Two small features that share a Workbench header but solve unrelated problems. The streak counter is a gentle nudge to keep momentum. Sample data gives you a sandbox for training new hires or testing a workflow.

## What counts toward the streak?

Any of these actions on a given day, recorded in your local timezone:

* Completing a task assigned to you
* Posting a comment on a customer or onboarding
* Moving an onboarding to a new phase
* Closing or reopening a customer status (active > at\_risk, etc.)

Read-only actions do not count. Opening the Workbench, scrolling the feed, or running search will not keep the streak alive.

## When does the streak reset?

At midnight in the timezone set on your user profile. If you complete one task at 11:59 PM and another at 12:01 AM, the streak ticks up on both days. If you skip a day, the counter resets to 0 the next time you do qualifying work.

There is no grace period. There is no streak freeze. Pivotal does not gamify customer-success work past the counter, and there are no badges or leaderboards tied to it.

## Can I hide the streak?

Yes. Open **Profile > Preferences > Workbench** and toggle off **Show streak counter**. The header collapses and reclaims the space. Your underlying streak still ticks; toggling back on shows the current count.

## What is sample data?

Sample data is a separate workspace populated with 12 fictional customers, 18 onboardings across all five phases, and \~200 tasks. Use it to:

* Train a new teammate without giving them production access
* Test how a phase template looks before applying it in production
* Take a screenshot for documentation or a sales conversation

The sample workspace is shared across your team. Anyone in your real workspace sees the same set of fictional customers. You can edit, comment, and complete tasks freely; data resets every 30 days back to its seed state.

## Switch into the sample workspace

Click your workspace name in the top-left, pick **Sample workspace** from the dropdown. The whole app reloads pointing at sample data; the URL changes to `my.pivotal.app/sample/...`. A yellow banner across the top reads "You're in the sample workspace." Switch back the same way.

## What's read-only in sample data?

Three things stay locked:

1. The list of seed customers (you can edit them, but the count of 12 cannot grow past 50)
2. Integration connectors (sample has fake HubSpot and Stripe; you cannot rewire them)
3. Billing and seat counts (no charges, no real teammates)

Everything else (tasks, comments, phase moves, custom fields, saved views) is editable and persists until the 30-day reset.

## Can I import my own data into sample?

No, by design. Sample is meant to stay fictional so it's safe to share screenshots and run trainings. If you need a private staging environment with realistic data, create a second workspace from [Create your workspace](/product/setup/create-your-workspace) and use [Data export](/product/integrations/data-export) to seed it.
